Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Dr. David Kozak obtained a PhD in Statistics for work on machine learning theory, with a particular emphasis on high-dimensional optimization and modeling under uncertainty.
He also has an MBA from the University of Oxford. David spent the five years prior to founding Distill as the head of research for Solea Energy where he was in charge of finding algorithmic solutions to the complex and dynamic characteristics of power systems.

Dr. Parno has deep expertise in computational science, optimization, and uncertainty quantification, with a track record of applying these tools to hard problems across industry and academia. He co-founded Distill to bring modern modeling tools to the clean energy transition, and he currently leads technical development and power flow modeling for Distill.
Before Distill, he was the principal researcher at Solea Energy, where he focused on short-term algorithmic power trading. Earlier, he was a research professor at Dartmouth and a research scientist at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' CRREL laboratory. He led the development of the open-source MIT Uncertainty Quantification Library (MUQ) and holds a PhD in Computational Science and Engineering from MIT.

Sonya brings nearly two decades of energy market experience spanning product data, and operations in the power sector.
Before Distill, she was Head of Data at Equilibrium Energy, where she led the development of large-scale data platforms that powered trading and science across storage, renewables and financial portfolios. Earlier in her career, Sonya served as Vice President of Operations at Solea Energy and Director of Data Products at Yes Energy. At Distill, Sonya drives product vision, and strategy, ensuring the company delivers innovative, data-driven solutions.
